12-Month-Old Meal Plan

Congrats, your baby is one year old!

He or she has reached the toddler years, and with this comes new eating patterns and experiences. Ask your pediatrician about self-feeding pouches or snacks, to develop fine motor skills, and continue exposing baby to new tastes and textures.

How do I know if my toddler is ready for self-feeding?

Self-feeding is a great way for little ones to practice their fine-motor skills. We recommend reaching out to your pediatrician to ask when your toddler is ready to feed his or herself in a seated, supervised manner with soft snacks, such as melties. The stages on our products should only be used as a guideline.

Which Beech-Nut® foods contain allergens?

We list nine food allergens (wheat, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish, sesame, tree nuts & peanuts) on our labels in accordance with FDA requirements. This information is printed clearly on the labels of those products. Click on each product page to view its ingredients.

Please visit www.beechnut.com/allergens to see which of our products do contain wheat, milk or egg.

Where should I store Beech-Nut® baby food?

All products are designed to be stored at room temperature before opening. Freezing before use is not recommended. After opening, please refer to the label on each individual product for proper handling and storage information.

If you are serving only a portion of the jar, avoid spoon-feeding baby directly from the jar. Instead, pour the puree portion into a bowl, seal and refrigerate the remaining portion. (Baby’s saliva has the potential to cause bacteria growth, if re-serving directly from the jar)

What feeding stage is my 12-month old in?

At 12-months old, your baby may be ready to begin eating our Stage 4 foods. This stage is designed to meet the needs of toddlers 12-months and older, and consists of thicker pouch purees as well as some bite-sized snacks that your little one can use for self-feeding.
